On September 27, 2024, Government Degree College (GDC) Paderu celebrated World Tourism Day with great enthusiasm and grandeur. The event aimed to highlight the importance of tourism and its impact on the cultural and economic development of the region. The theme for this year was "Tourism and Green Investment," emphasizing sustainable tourism practices. The celebration kicked off with an inaugural speech by the Principal, who spoke about the significance of tourism in promoting local culture and fostering global connections. This was followed by a series of presentations and exhibitions showcasing the rich heritage, flora, and fauna of Paderu and its surroundings. Students actively participated in various cultural programs, including traditional dance performances and folk songs, which added a festive touch to the event. Workshops and seminars were conducted on eco-friendly tourism practices, attracting the attention of both students and local residents. Experts from the tourism industry shared insights on sustainable travel and the importance of preserving natural resources. The event concluded with an award ceremony, recognizing the efforts of students who contributed to promoting tourism in the region. Sugatha Navathi - Sugatham Sukrutham: Celebrating Poet Sugathakumari and Kerala’s Culture

Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Illickal, Kottayam, celebrated the 90th birth anniversary of the legendary poet and social activist Sugathakumari Amma through a grand event, "Sugatham Sukrutham." This event paid tribute to her unparalleled contributions to literature, environmental conservation, and social justice, while also promoting Kerala’s cultural heritage and tourism. The program commenced at 3:00 PM with a melodious invocation by the school choir, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by dignitaries. Principal Smt. Geetha Devi Varma delivered the welcome address, and Vidyalaya President Sri. N. Rajagopal extended greetings. The Hon’ble Minister of State, Adv. George Kurian, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, delivering a keynote address on the relevance of Sugathakumari Amma’s poetry. Distinguished speakers, including former Governor Shri Kummanam Rajasekharan, MLA Shri Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, and Municipal Vice Chairman Shri B. Gopakumar, shared inspiring words. The highlight of the cultural program was a captivating dance performance by students based on Sugathakumari Amma’s poem "Krishna Nee Enne Ariyunnilla," beautifully brought to life by Rajashree B. Nair, Renuka Rakesh, Kavya Prakash, Anushya N., and Nivedya Mahesh. The event concluded with dignitaries planting saplings on the school campus, symbolizing a commitment to environmental conservation, a cause dear to Sugathakumari Amma’s heart. Event Coordinator Smt. Jayashree M.R. expressed gratitude with a vote of thanks, followed by the National Anthem. Through “Sugatham Sukrutham,” Chinmaya Vidyalaya showcased the richness of Kerala’s culture and heritage, blending education with the promotion of cultural tourism.
