Swachhata Hi Seva: A Campaign for Cleanliness and Conservation Date: 17th September to 2nd October 2024 Organizer: Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar, Uttarakhand Yuva Tourism Club students, with NCC, NSS, and others. Total Volunteers: Approximately 300 students and teachers from Dev Sanskriti Tourism Youth Club, NSS, NCC, and the School of Technology Communication and Management. Coordination: The program was meticulously coordinated by Dr. Arunesh Parashar, the coordinator of the Youth Tourism Club. Venue: Haripur Kala, a surrounding village area, and the Dev Sanskriti University Campus. Highlights: Massive Sanitation Drive: The campaign focused on a comprehensive sanitation drive, aiming to clean up the designated areas and promote cleanliness awareness. Conservation Efforts: In addition to sanitation, the volunteers actively participated in conservation initiatives, such as planting trees, cleaning water bodies, and preserving natural resources. Community Engagement: The campaign fostered a sense of community involvement by encouraging local residents to participate and contribute to the cleanliness efforts. Educational Workshops: The organizers conducted educational workshops to raise awareness about environmental issues, the importance of cleanliness, and sustainable practices. The Government School of Chail, in collaboration with the India Tourism Shimla Office, organized a poster-making competition on the theme of cleanliness. Members of Yuva Tourism Club, St Thomas School Shimla participated along with NCC wing in an event Green-a - thon in association with Army training command Artrac Shimla .A lecture on importance of Swachta, plantation, cleanliness was given by Subedar A.P. TRIPATHI. Col. Naveen Kumar graced the occasion as Chief guest. Plant saplings were distributed to all participants to aware the students for conservation of environment under the Swachta hi seva campaign. Yuva Tourism Club of Hansraj Model School, Punjabi Bagh organized a workshop on 'Menstrual Hygiene and Washroom Etiquettes' for Grade IX and X girls. The session emphasized the importance of menstrual hygiene, nutritious diets during this period, different sanitary products, and sustainable disposal methods. It also encouraged breaking taboos by discussing these topics openly and taught proper toilet etiquettes for maintaining clean public spaces. They designed e- posters highlighting the same theme which were placed in the school washrooms.
