IHM Organize Heritage walk & Cleanliness drive at Tapkeshwar Mahadev (Dehradun)

IHM Dehradun celebrated National Tourism Day, performed Tourism Awareness drive, and took the pledge. (Travel for Life) Heritage walk from IHM Dehradun to Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple with a group of 25 students of Yuva Tourism Club (YTC) IHM Dehradun and 02 faculty. They sensitized tourists and neighborhood shopkeepers about the significance of National Tourism Day and the need to keep our surroundings clean.

Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and Ministry of Tourism intends to celebrate the year 2023 India@75 Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav by launching the campaign focusing on “YUVA Tourism Club” with the strategic objective of creating interest, awareness and a sense of responsibility towards our country’s natural and cultural heritage / tourism amongst children and youth. As part of the campaign giving an introduction session to first year students of Dr. Ambedkar institute of hotel management, Chandigarh.

Study Tour to Sarna Village in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand from April 28-30.

The Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India organized a three-day study tour to Sarna Village in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand from April 28-30. Sh. R. K. Suman, Regional Director (North), flagged off the trip from Jamia Millia Islamia (A Central University) in New Delhi, accompanied by members of the Yuva Tourism Club of the university. The main objective of this initiative is to explore the diverse rural villages of India and promote the country as a global tourism destination. The tour is focused on exploring, developing, and promoting Sarna Village, District Nainital, as a future rural tourism destination. Developing such rural destinations will encourage sustainable development by promoting special interest tourism and exploring niche destinations. The Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India has established 'YUVA Tourism Clubs' as a part of the 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations. The vision is to nurture and develop young ambassadors of Indian tourism who would become aware of tourism possibilities in India, appreciate our rich cultural heritage, and develop an interest and passion for tourism. These young ambassadors would be catalysts for promoting tourism in India. The locals of Sarna village welcomed the YTC members warmly. The Sarpanch and Pradhan personally greeted the students. The YTC members discovered that the village has the potential to attract tourists who seek to escape the hustle and bustle of their daily lives. Visitors can enjoy a beautiful trek to the homes of the villagers scattered on different parts of the hill, which can be reached by trekking like roads. During their visit, YTC members observed the step farming in the village. The weather during this time is pleasantly cool, and the village's primary fruits are apples, oranges, walnuts, apricots, and pears. YTC members saw walnuts on the trees, while apple trees are slowly becoming green. After exploring and gaining insights from the village, YTC members have also taken the Pledge for a commitment towards Safe and Honourable Tourism and Sustainable Tourism. Tourists can experience the authentic rural mountain village lifestyle and gain insight into the livelihood patterns and way of living of the mountainous rural villagers. Sarna village is an unexplored destination, waiting to be discovered by those seeking a peaceful and serene environment away from the chaos of city life.

The students of Yuva Tourism Club of Depttt of Tourism & Hospitality Management started the study tour for Sarna Village in Uttarakhand. The purpose of the visit is to make the students understand the various aspects of Rural Tourism and Eco Tourism. The journey was flagged off by Shri R K Suman, Regional Director (North), Dr Sarah Hussain, HOD, DTHM, JMI and Prof (Dr) Nimit Chaudhary, JMI on 28th April 2023 from the campus of the university.

Sports and Culture

In JNV Rudrapur, various sports and CCA activities are held. Teams from the sports of basketball, badminton, chess, kabaddi, and table tennis visited Bulandshar, Haridwar, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, and Chitrakut. In addition to doing sports, students were informed about the historical and geographical significance of these locations. Students are also instructed to write about their travels to these locations, notable locals, historical sites, local dialects, delectable foods, etc.

Earth Day Celebration.

On 22nd April 2023, Sambhota Tibetan School's Yuva Tourism Club celebrated Earth Day with great enthusiasm and zeal. The day was marked by various activities aimed at creating awareness about the need to protect the environment and promote sustainable practices. Under the guidance of school teacher coordinator Ms. Nashi Chauhan, the students of the school took the Earth Day Pledge, committing themselves to protect the environment and take steps to preserve the natural resources. To further create awareness about the importance of Earth Day, a poster painting activity was conducted in the school. The students participated in the activity with great enthusiasm, creating beautiful and impactful posters highlighting the need to protect the environment. The celebration of Earth Day in Sambhota Tibetan School was a great success, promoting awareness about the importance of environmental protection and sustainable practices. It provided a platform for the students to showcase their creativity and commitment to preserving the environment. Excursion to Suketi Fossil Park by JNV Nahan School

Under the banner of Yuva tourism club we students along with 4 teachers Mrs. Ashu mam , Ms Suresh mam , Mr. Amit sir , Mr. Vijay sir went for excursion to Suketi fossil park on 19th April 2023 Our aim was to discover local tourist sites . To know the geological -historical evolution of our district Sirmour . The fossil park in Suketi is the first park in Asia from where fossil are discovered from lower Himalayan region. Skeletons and fossils of pre-historic animals found here are as old as 8.5 million years ago. Shivaliks where the park is located are said to have the world’s largest number of mammalian fossils. Whether they’re skeletons of elephants or the remains of the trees that lived long ago , fossils at suketi fossil park can transport people back through the eons . It gives people an opportunity to peep into the world of the ancient earth . The park has been built and regulated by the Geological Survey of India and Himachal Pradesh Tourism . Many scholars across the country visit the Suketi fossil park for research work. Located within 21 km. from Nahan, the park is nestled on the edge of the Markanda River . The Suketi fossil park is famous for its six life –size reinforced models of Stegodon Ganesa , Sivatherium , Colosschelys Atlas , Paramachaerdus , Hexaprotodon-Sivalensis and Crocodilia. Such huge and large creatures really wondered in our district 20-33 lakh years ago. Within the confines of the Park , there is a museum as well, which gives researchers and scientist an opportunity to scrutinize about animals and their surroundings . The park and the museum in the fossil park are well maintained by the horticulture department of Himachal Pradesh . The museum exhibits fossils, models, charts, and paintings related to the various aspects of plants and animals. fossil wood and tools made by early man are also displayed . We were astonished and excited to know that most of the fossils belong to our own district and particularly they were found very near to our school as in peepalwala and nearby villages.

World Heritage Day

The Yuva Tourism Club of Sambhota Tibetan School organized a remarkable event showcasing the local cultural and natural heritage of India and Tibet. The event was conducted under the guidance of Ms. Nashi Chauhan, a school teacher coordinator, and witnessed active participation from students and faculty members. The event started with a Poem Competition, where students showcased their talent in writing poetry on heritage sites and their significance. The event was followed by a Ramp Walk that displayed the diverse cultural heritage of India, Tibet, and the Pahadi region. The students walked the ramp with pride and confidence, showcasing their traditional attire and cultural practices, mesmerizing the audience with their unique style. Ms. Nashi Chauhan, a faculty member of the school, delivered a speech on the Importance of Heritage Day, highlighting the significance of preserving our cultural heritage for future generations. Mr. Spandan Ghale, a class-12th student, gave an introduction speech, providing an overview of the event and its objectives. Mr. Kush Sharma, another class-12th student, delivered a thought-provoking speech on the Preservation of our Heritage sites. He emphasized the need to protect our heritage sites and promote sustainable tourism practices to preserve our cultural and natural heritage. Overall, the event was a grand success, providing a platform for students to showcase their talents and learn about the rich cultural and natural heritage of India and Tibet. The event served as a reminder of the importance of preserving our heritage sites and promoting sustainable tourism practices for a better future.

To celebrate 126th Birth Anniversary of the Great Hero of India, #NetajiSubhashChandraBose, a programme was organised on 23rd January '23 at Netaji Bhawan by Indiatourism Kolkata (Ministry of Tourism, Government of India) supported by Netaji Research Bureau (NRB) and Yuva Tourism Club Volunteers, 200 plus students and several teachers of a few educational institutions, namely, Narayanpur HCT High School, NSHM Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management, ILEAD College, Techno India Group Public School Garia, Kendriya Vidyalaya Ballygunge, BNG Tourism & Hospitality Management Institute, and Swami Vivekananda Institute of Modern Science, paid homage to the Great Leader Netaji. After visiting the beautiful Museum spread over three floors of Netaji Bhaban, Elgin Road, they all sang an inspirational chorus song 'Jayatu Netaji' created by Gaanpanthi, dedicated to our beloved hero. The joint participation of all the students and various institutions celebrating this day of Netaji, the #ParakramDiwas, made it a grand success.
