Yuva Tourism Club of J.M Rathi English School & Junior college celebrated New Year of Maharashtrian community, Gudi padwa on 16 April 2024.The students were informed about the importance of gudi padwa. It is first day of New Year. Gudi Padwa falls on the first day of the Chaitra month in the lunisolar Hindu calendar, generally around March-end or April-start. It marks the beginning of a fresh year for Maharashtrians and Konkani Hindus. A key feature is the Gudi Dhaja, a bright cloth adorned with neem leaves, garlands, and a sugar crystal canopy, displayed outside homes to ward off evil and bring good luck. here are street gatherings, dancing, and special festive foods enjoyed by the community. It might also commemorate the start of the Shalivahan calendar, established after a victory over the Huns in the 1st century.Gudi Padwa is a joyous occasion that welcomes spring, celebrates new beginnings, and strengthens community bonds.the students participated with enthusiasm. Students presented a skit to display the significance of the day.
