As part of the celebration of World Tourism Day, the staff and students of our Research Department of Hotel Management & Catering Science participated in a Cleaning Campaign organized by the Department of Tourism, Tamil Nadu, under the Swachhata Pakhwada scheme on September 27, 2024. Twenty-five students from the B.Sc. Hotel Management and Catering Science program participated in this initiative, accompanied by our faculty members, Mr. S. Yoganand and Mr. S. Samuel Anand Kumar. In alignment with the World Tourism Day celebration, our students cleaned the entire premises of Anna Planetarium. They took an oath with the public to raise awareness about “Swachhata Pakhwada.” The theme for Swachhata Pakhwada 2024 is "Clean and Green India" and "Waste to Wealth." After taking the oath, our students distributed awareness pamphlets to tourists visiting the site. Later, our students, faculty, and the Tourism Officer of Trichy planted saplings at Anna Planetarium, Tiruchirappalli, to raise awareness about the importance of trees among the younger generation and the local community. The students thoroughly enjoyed the activities and gained valuable insights into the history, growth, and development of Anna Planetarium. Outcomes of the Cleaning Campaign: 1.
