On the occasion of National Space Day 2024, the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, through its field office in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, organized an educational visit on 21st August 2024, for 60 students from Yuva Tourism Clubs of Kendriya Vidyalaya Birpur, Kendriya Vidyalaya No1 HBK and Graphic Era Global School to the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) in Dehradun. This visit was designed to inspire young minds by providing them with an in-depth understanding of India's advancements in space technology and remote sensing. The highlight of the visit was an insightful session led by Dr. Ashutosh Bhardwaj, Head of the Research Project Monitoring Department and a distinguished scientist at IIRS. Dr. Bhardwaj shared his expertise with the students, focusing on the critical role of remote sensing in various fields such as environmental monitoring, disaster management, and resource management. His session was both educational and inspiring, leaving the students with a deeper appreciation for the science behind space exploration and its practical applications. Following the session, the students were taken on a guided tour of the IIRS exhibition, where they had the opportunity to view and learn about various satellite models, engines, heat shields, solar panels, and other essential components of space technology. To further enrich their experience, the students were shown several videos that offered a comprehensive overview of ISRO's various centres and the wide array of services it provides. This educational visit was a significant event for the Yuva Tourism Clubs students, sparking their curiosity and encouraging them to explore the exciting possibilities within the fields of space science and technology. The visit was not only an educational experience but also a source of inspiration for the young participants, marking National Space Day 2024 as a memorable and impactful occasion.
