Celebrating Seva Parv with Heritage & History! As part of the Seva Parv Celebrations, India Tourism Chennai organized a vibrant Heritage Walk on 24th September 2025 through the historic lanes of Old Madras, highlighting the city’s rich cultural and architectural legacy. The walk began at the General Post Office and covered key landmarks including Parry’s Corner, The Bombardment of Madras site, Madras High Court, The Armenian Church, Mint Street, Old Madras Market, and King George V Statue. 20 students from the Department of Architecture & Design and Visual Communication at Saveetha College of Architecture & Design, Chennai participated in the walk. A storytelling session during the walk brought alive the history, architecture, and cultural significance of Old Madras, inspiring students to appreciate and preserve India’s heritage. This initiative directly supports the Seva Parv objective to strengthen awareness and pride in India’s heritage, traditions, and contemporary achievements, by engaging youth in meaningful cultural experiences

Swachhata Pakhwada at Mamallapuram. As part of the Swachhata Pakhwada Calendar of the Ministry of Tourism, Indiatourism Chennai organized a special cleanliness drive on 29th September 2025 at the iconic Shore Temple, Mamallapuram. In collaboration with Mamallapuram Municipality, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), and IHMCT Taramani, Chennai, the campaign was inaugurated by Smt. Valarmathi Yesvanthrao, Chairperson, Mamallapuram Municipality, in the presence of the Regional Director (South), Indiatourism Chennai, ASI officials, and Indiatourism team. Over 40 IHM students and visiting students from Sri Umamaheswar High School, Kurnool, enthusiastically joined hands to clean the temple environs and the pathway to the beachfront. Together, we are working towards clean, sustainable, and responsible tourism.

As part of #SpecialCampaign5.0, a vibrant painting competition was organised by Indiatourism Chennai for Class V students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar, Chennai on the theme “Keeping Our Monuments and Tourist Places Clean.” The young artists beautifully expressed the importance of cleanliness through colours and creativity — reminding us that a clean India begins with each one of us. On 2nd October 2025, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Annanagar, Chennai organized a Cleanliness Drive in the school campus as part of Swachh Bharat Diwas. Around 50 NCC, Scouts & Guides students participated enthusiastically in the drive and took out a rally within the GPRA Campus, Thirumangalam, Chennai, spreading awareness on cleanliness and civic responsibility. Indiatourism Chennai joined the initiative and encouraged the students by distributing participation certificates and Incredible India souvenirs. Held under the framework of Special Campaign 5.0, the program paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean India and inspired young students to embrace cleanliness as a civic duty.

🌿 Exploring the Heritage of the Cholas – One Day Educational Field Visit 🌿 As part of our academic learning, we had the wonderful opportunity to embark on a one-day field visit covering the historic and culturally rich destinations of Thanjavur – Tharasuram – Anaikarai Dam – Gangaikonda Cholapuram on 30th September 2025. This educational journey offered us deep insights into the architectural brilliance of the Chola dynasty, the artistic excellence of Tamil culture, and the natural beauty of Tamil Nadu. ✨ Highlights of the Visit: 🏛️ Thanjavur – Witnessed the grandeur of the Brihadeeswarar Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a timeless example of Chola architecture. 🕉️ Tharasuram – Explored the Airavatesvara Temple, renowned for its intricate carvings and spiritual charm. 💧 Anaikarai Dam – Enjoyed a peaceful lunch surrounded by lush greenery and scenic beauty, appreciating the importance of water conservation. 🏯 Gangaikonda Cholapuram – Experienced the majestic legacy of Rajendra Chola I and the artistic refinement of Chola architecture. World Tourism day was celebrated at CMR University, City Campus by Yuva Tourism Club of School of Liberal studies on 25th September,2025 from 2,30 pm to 4.00 pm in AV Hall. The event was organised by Dr G Saravana Kumar Professor emeritus and Yuva Tourism club coordinator from School of liberal studies and Dr Latha Krishnan, Dean, SLS. The theme announced for this year by UN Tourism was Tourism and Sustainable Transformation. As part of the celebration we had 5 competitions namely Essay, world countries tourism painting , Poster making based on theme, Tourism Quiz and one minute reels (video) competition. The main event was conducted on 25th September and the Chief guest was Mr Srinivas Rao, Cluster Director HR of Hilton Manyata Group of Hotels. The event was presided by Dr HB Raghavendra Vice Chancellor of CMR University. Chief guest spoke on the opportunities in Hotel Industry and explained how students should equip themselves with additional skills and adapt themselves to new environment and work culture. Vice chancellor said it was first time World tourism day is being celebrated in CMR University and said in the next year it should be celebrated combining all campus of CMRU and appreciated the Yuva tourism Club,School of liberal studies for taking the initiative. The event also had the inaugural of Yuva Tourism Club which is sponsored by Ministry of Tourism and it was symbolically inaugurated by our Vice chancellor Dr HB Raghavendra and chief guest Mr Srinivas Rao in the presence of Dr Latha Krishnan Dean SLS. The event started with invocation Bharatha Natyam dance by Ms Deva Nanda of MSc Psychology 1 sem,which was on lord Rama and was very professional. It was followed by Welcome address by Dr Latha Krishnan, dean SLS and felicitation of chief guest by our Vice chancellor. We also had the investiture ceremony for Yuva club student members for whom badges were fixed by the dignitaries and they took a pledge for responsible traveller read by Dr G Saravana kumar, Yuva tourism club coordinator. There was a tourism cultural ramp walk showcasing 8 states of India performed by students of SLS actually native of the respective states with a commentary on the tourism and culture which was very colourful and appreciated by the audience. There was a hindi song performance by Ms. Debleena Msc Psychology 1 sem student. Prizes were distributed to all the winners of various competitions by the dignitaries along with certificates. Videos of competitions conducted, Malaysia host country and Karnataka tourism were played. Ministry of tourism had sponsored Yuva tourism club badges were fixed to Yuva tourism club members on stage and Pledge for responsible traveller was administered by Dr G Saravana Kumar Professor and Yuva Tourism club coordinator for CMR University to the student members and tourism brochures were issued to the students. The event ended with Vote of thanks by Dr G Saravana Kumar, Professor emeritus and Yuva tourism club coordinator, CMR University.

In order to celebrate the World Tourism Day, the Yuva Tourism Club of Hajee Karutha Rowther Howdia College, Uthamapalayam, Tamil Nadu organized a special Talk on the United Nations World Tourism Organizations theme, ‘Tourism and Sustainable Transformation’ on 26. 09.2025. Dr. M. Jannathul Firdhouse, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Hajee Karutha Rowther Howdia College, Uthamapalayam served as the Resource Person of the programme. The event aimed to create awareness among students about sustainable and responsible tourism practices. In her address, Dr. Jannathul Firdhouse emphasized the need for sustainable tourism and highlighted how the tourism industry impacts the environment. Forty-five students benefited out of the programme.

The Yuva Tourism Club of Hajee Karutha Rowther Howdia College organized a one-day field trip for women’s students on the theme ‘From Excavation to Civilization: Field Visit to Keezhadi and Madurai’ on 21.08.2025. A team of 47 students, along with four faculty members took part in the trip. The team visited the Archaeological Museum at Keezhadi in Sivagangai District and the Kalaingar Centenary Library located in Madurai which is one of the largest libraries in Tamil Nadu. The trip aimed to create awareness about Archaeology and Tamil civilization, as well as to help students in understanding the role of libraries in the preparation of Competitive Examinations and Research. The trip provided the students with both educational and experiential learning opportunities for the students.
